2017 Mourvedre - Sugarloaf Vineyard

2017 Mourvedre - Sugarloaf Vineyard
2017 Mourvedre - Sugarloaf Vineyard

A deep rosewood color, this wonderful wine is rich, delicious, and easy to drink. The nose is packed with mulberries and cherries with notes of oak, resin, strawberry, moss, and nutmeg. It tastes just like it smells, with that wonderful cherry-mulberry taste dominant, perhaps with a little more blackberry and orange than it showed on the nose.

The mix of power, richness, and quaffability here is just breathtaking - We tried to think about what this might do with age, but we kept refilling our glass instead. (It will keep fine for years, except that you'll drink it all before then). It has that magnificent combination of succulence and juiciness that cries out for brisket or steak. It also drinks great by itself!
