2025 Viognier "O"
Fermented in contact with the skins, red-wine style, this Viognier has the texture, tannin and depth that you typically find in red wines. This rarely-made style of white wine is known as "orange wine", named for the unusual color it imparts, ranging from pale to bright orange.
Silver, Pacific NW Wine Competition (88 points)
Tasting notes
You are unlikely to meet a more aromatic and deliciously unusual wine than this skin-fermented Viognier, nor one that is more challenging to describe! The nose is rambunctious with orange blossom and candied orange bounding from the glass, with perhaps a suggestion of beeswax in the background. In the mouth you may find ripe stone fruit of many varieties – and spices: allspice and eucalyptus and some exotic ones not in my spice rack. Amazing stuff.
Dry/full bodied, medium acid, medium tannin.
